the check engine light on my 1999 buick lesabre custom has been on for about 2 weeks now, just got serviced, and when i took it to autozone they said just clean out my engine or something. The problem was that at times the oil pressure gauge would go down to 0 and the power steering will just get really tight and the car just stops. an i have to turn it off and then back on, after checking oil and just letting the problem go on i thought to check my power steering fluid, at first(like most people i've read about) i could not find it anywhere, but i found it and the cap didnt seem to be screwed on very securely, and now when i turn my car on and drive it around it works fine, and then check engine light comes on.
do and of you guys think i fixed the problem?
was the steering going out because there wasnt enough pressure for the powersteering?I think i fixed my check engine problem, any advice?
no the power steering cap loose didn't fix your problem ....first check you engine oil level...if it is full .....get them codes from the autozone tech and then you may or may not have to take it to a mechanicI think i fixed my check engine problem, any advice?
one dont trust wat the people at autozone tell you more than likely your oil pressure sensor curcuit is shorted or the sensor is messed up and your power steering would be that your rack and pinion would be leaking and theres no fluid in the systen
CELs do not come on because of fluid issues.
So, no, you did not fix the problem.
Find someone besides a guy who flipped burgers at McDonald's last week to diagnose your vehicle properly...
I think it isn't fixed. The power steering was probably getting tight because the engine was shutting down. I don't know what is making it do that, but the codes from the check engine light - the ones that AutoZone read - are the best clue you have.
