so i want to know abt this medicine??I have a vascular headache problem for 7 yrs. And doctor advice me to take a cyproheptadine hydrochloride.?
It's an anti-histamine. And is usually used for allergies but they are now using it for miagraines.
It binds to receptors and opens blood vessels.
With a migraine the medication blockes the production of serotonin, which is raised in miagraines.
It has a sedative side effect.
If you Google the drug you can find plenty of information on it written in plain English. Not medical jargon.
