Advice on a problem?

I've read on YA about paranoid schizophrenia and most people answer by saying the sufferer is plagued with the belief that the world is against them (i.e.; other people). Is it the same if the person is plagued by the fear of things that are not real? Do they experience visual hallucinations or do they just hear things, or both? What are the characteristics of this disease and how is it treated? Do most people with this disease get institutionalized? I have dealt with this kind of problem for awhile now, I am afraid to sleep at night. I do not see things, or even hear voices or anything..but I imagine things and the fear of them is very real. The things I imagine are very detailed and terrify me. Is this just a product of an overactive imagination or do I have a problem on my hands? If so, what do you think it is, is it paranoid shizophrenia?Advice on a problem?
I think it's very hard to tell without an evaluation. It could just be that you're paranoid, and maybe you've seen too many horror movies in your day. Sometimes it helps to just breathe, and asses your situation. When are you most afraid? During the night or day? Or both? What do you think makes you so scared? You have to really search within yourself and determine what is making you think of these things? Are you having trouble within the reality of your life, and could this possibly be your mind's way of coping with those problems?

I hope the best for you. If you feel you cannot find the answers on your own (or here), try a counselor and see what they have to say. Don't let your fears hinder your life.Advice on a problem?
Anxiety and imagining things is not the same as schizophrenic hallucinations, which are sights, smells, sounds, tastes or touch sensations that are experienced as REALITY. Schizophrenia is treated with medications today and seldom requires long-term institutionalization. What you describe in your question sounds very troubling. How are you getting enough sleep? How can you be enjoying your life when you are terrified? Anytime something about your health troubles you, see your health care provider as soon as possible.
It really is difficult to say what is going on without more detail and without seeing you in person.

I can say that there are many different ways that schizophrenia can surface, some of which you have described being true. Another ture thing is that some are hospitalized, however many are given medication and lead full life.

however, since you are on this board and asking makes me think that something else is happening.

i can only say that nobody on this board can answer you with a good answer that will satisfy you. you should go to a psychologist to find out for sure.

there are so many that lead a full life! Go and talk to someone whom is professional and get the correct diagnosis so you do not have to live this way anymore. You will be thankful you did!

Hope I helped and good luck!'

Paranoid schizophrenics don't necessarily suffer from visual hallucinations or hear things but they do have an inexplainable fear of things that aren't there, or in some cases things that aren't really happening. For example, a schizophrenic would see a smiling person as a serial killer planning to kill him/her. That's because he/she doesn't see the smile but only what his/her mind wants him to see. According to studies paranoid schizophrenics don't tend to focus on a person's features or movement the same way normal people do. Well, there are more signs of paranoid schizophrenia but in general, schizophrenics ';put the fear'; onto something.

As you perhaps know this disorder is psychological and it is usually a result of a traumatizing experience in a person's life like rape or witnessing a murder for example. People with severe cases of schizophrenia choose to be institutionalized so as to avoid causing any harm to the people around them. Does your problem occur every night or maybe even during the day? Your problem could be simply caused by an overactive imagination but if it does get to a point that it really bothers you, you should try seeing a psychiatrist. hope i helped
Well both schizophrenia and paranoia can be treated the only problem is the people who go on the medicine tend to go off and convince them selves they're all better. To me it doesnt sound like either mabey something tramatic haooened and youve been scared. I would deffinantly consider going to a thearapist. Also normally people with those disorders cant identify them having it. But if you are imagining thing that arent really their, thats hallucination which is a sign of schizophrenia. schizophrenia normally develops between the ages of 20-40
