Advice on sleeping problem?

I spend lots of nights not really sleep at all, plus the quality of sleep is crappy too. So lots of nights I've been up and fall to sleep mid morning and sleep until about 2pm. My sleep pattern is obviously out of wack and I feel terrible. When I get no sleep it feels like my body goes numb certain times. I don't relax that easily. One morning I got up after getting very lttle sleep and during the car ride I felt as if it became harder to breath and my body started getting cold and warm sensations, and at one point I started to panic because I was pinching my arms and legs and couldn't feel anything, I was numb. This ofcourse was one of the most scary things to happen to me. I ended up relaxing I guess and I came back around. Another thing is that I find it extremely hard to get back to sleep after being unable to sleep for so long. I thought that I would just peacefully sleep after being so tired, but it really is a struggle to calm myself and get to sleep. Am I losing it?Advice on sleeping problem?
I don't think you're losing it, but you may want to see a doctor. Read up a little on restless legs syndrome and panic attacks and see if either one of them sounds familiar.

I have problems sleeping too (caused by Tourette's) and when I get really tired I get panic attacks that don't have any obvious cause (ie I'm not worried about anything). It feels like my arms or legs are going numb and I have to keep moving them or pinching myself to try to take away the feeling. Then it feels like I have trouble catching my breath, and I get the hot/cold too. When I try to fall asleep, I regularly jerk awake with these sensations of panic. The feelings normally come any time I relax, as long as I keep moving I feel okay.

Although I'm guessing you don't have Tourette's, restless legs is similar to the problems I had, and can actually cause sleep problems (which could contribute to panic, which makes it worse). I'm not a doctor, but I do think it would be worthwhile talking to one at least for advice.Advice on sleeping problem?
Not getting enough (or deep enough) sleep can be very harmful to your body. One of the things I found was I had to cut out ALL caffeine. It stays in the body for 24 hours and can cause your brain to just keep running instead of shutting down into deep sleep. Don't forget that chocolate also contains caffeine so don't eat it in the evening. Also sometimes your sleep patterns get messed up and you have to reset them. Try to go to bed and get up at the same time every day, even on weekends. You may also have sleep apnea so I would talk to my doctor about this. You may need some tests run.
